Welcome to First Parish Congregational Church!
We’re so glad you’ve found your way to our website and are exploring what we’re all about! If you’re planning to join us for worship, here are some helpful details to know in advance.
Getting Here & Entering the Church
We are located at 1 Church Street, Wakefield, MA, right by the beautiful Lake Quannapowitt. Our parking lot entrance is on the right side of the church—just turn left to access the back lot.
You’ll enter through the back door, conveniently located near the parking area.
For safety, our doors lock at 10:20 AM, 20 minutes after the service begins. If you arrive late, don’t worry! Just walk around to the front entrance, where a friendly member of our congregation will be happy to greet you.
What to Expect in Worship
As you enter the sanctuary, our greeters will welcome you and hand you a bulletin with announcements about upcoming events and details about the service. Feel free to sit wherever you’d like!
Our worship leader will begin with a warm welcome, followed by our mission statement:
“Our mission is to reflect the love of God by welcoming all people into a life-changing, ever-growing relationship with Jesus.”
We then begin our scripture reading, which calls us to worship.
Next, we lift our voices together in two hymns, led by our choir and organist.
Following the hymns, we offer an opening prayer and recite The Lord’s Prayer, leading into more music, this time led by Cornerstone, our praise band.
Our Children’s Message follows, where the kids gather at the front of the sanctuary for a short, meaningful message from the Pastor. After a prayer, the children head upstairs for Sunday School, while the choir sings an anthem.
Then, we move into the heart of the service, where we reflect, pray, and grow together in faith.
Closing & Fellowship
As the service concludes, Cornerstone will lead us in one final song, and we will collect the offering (optional).
Afterward, we invite you to join us for refreshments and fellowship in the vestry—a wonderful opportunity to connect with others in our church family!
We hope this gives you a helpful glimpse into a typical Sunday at First Parish, and we can’t wait to welcome you in person!
